European Leaders Decry US Move as ‘Coercion’

European leaders such as the French president accused the US administration of “coercion and intimidation”, following the visa restrictions were placed on individuals who have been at the heart of campaigns to enact laws governing American tech companies.

“For far too long, ideologues in Europe have led organised efforts to coerce American platforms to punish US perspectives they disagree with,” stated the US secretary of state in a social media post. “The current administration will not stand for these egregious acts of censorship beyond its borders.”

Germany, Spain, the UK and a chorus of EU officials joined France in condemning the decision.
